To Love the Sea and Be Loved By It

The wind drags its fingers Across my bare shoulder. It kisses my temples, Always so much bolder Than the shy ocean blue That comes near then recedes. It sings me a love song From its bed of seaweeds. The warm, sultry sunshine Is cast down from the sky, Filling me with romance And drawing my heart nigh. The dazzling brownish sand Massages my two feet. It's a shell-lined carpet And also a soft seat. White, building thunderheads Fill me with such a thrill. They tease and they roil And can never be still. The ever present dunes, These shapely mounds of earth, Are feasts upon my eyes As I take in their girth. Like the sailors of old, It's meaningful to me. I know what they mean to Be married to the sea.
