The Days of a Thousand Dreams

Dark days are ahead of us,

like dark days were before.

Some days will pass on by us,

and some will be a chore.

But never brighter shine the days

than those of Summer's time,

when we let go of our selfish ways

and close our eyes and climb,

climb the cloud-lined stairs

into the Land of a Thousand Dreams

where inventiveness thrives on artists' fares

and hearts swell to burst at the seams.

Backgrounds blend and spirits fly

and all who are there are one.

We dance to a Utopian lullaby

and turn our faces to the sun.

But soon we end our free refrain

to come back down to earth.

But it if fruitless lest we gain

some wisdom more than mirth.

Life is no field of flowers,

although you'll find one here and there.

The highs and lows of all our lives

are everyone's to share.

Life persists on for everyone,

and at different rates it seems,

but it is better spent together

like in the Days of a Thousand Dreams.
