Christmas with Siblings

There's nothing like Christmas With your siblings around. There's always some kind of Adventure to be found.

Tall decorated trees Are everywhere you go. And if you're quite lucky, There is plenty of snow!

Set up the manger scene Up upon the mantle. Keep your sister's long hair Out of the lit candle!

Spill a little eggnog And have a little spat. Then make up with cookies Likely licked by the cat.

Put on your nicest clothes, And gather, one and all. It is party season; You're gonna have a ball!

Hugs from every grandma, A kiss from every aunt, Rough-house with the uncles, And no one says you can't.

Claim your favorite rocker, And tone it down a trite. Mama reads the Bible About the Holy Night.

Then on Christmas morning, It's time to open gifts. You're pressed against brother. Have another small tiff.

You're shushed with a warning, And then you remember: You made two gifts in class, Way back in November!

You leap up to your feet, Across the house you zoom! You have kept them hidden. They're somewhere in your room.

You bring them back unscathed. Their eyes light up with joy! They will keep these presents Longer than any toy.

In years ahead of you You'll forget all the rest, But time spent with siblings You will remember best. ❤
