Beyond the Cross

What is a rescue without a saved life?

Where is there glory without conquering strife?

Who am I that I should have forgotten

There lies beyond here a new life begotten?

The end at Salvation is the biggest lie ever told.

In the shade of the Father, to the cross we still hold.

His grace and His mercy bolsters us through the night,

but then in the morning we must gear up to fight!

For us to uptake, is the LORD's Great Commission.

An idle spirit and hands turns empty a vision.

Empower me, God, open my eyes to what You see.

Turn my gaze far away from my thoughts about me.

Your promises, Father, for me are still true.

You will look after me so I can focus on You

and the lost ones still wandering like little lost sheep.

Through me, Master, lead them to Your love rich and deep.

My heart, you protect; my body's just a tool.

I cling not to this life. Jesus, you're my prized jewel.

I relinquish my dreams into your wise care.

Give them back to me as Yours, please, and lead me there.

Heighten my senses so I can see clearly Your way.

Be my fire by night and my pillar by day.

By faith I walk calmly in clear or through haze,

for I know You are with me, oh Ancient of Days.

It's hard to doubt when you know surely that the One who walks with you is older and wiser than the whole universe. An awesome concept.
