A Song in My Heart

There is a song

In my heart

But the music

Don't start 'cept

Through the crickets

And the breeze

And the stars up

'Bove the trees.

I'm just sittin'

On a rock

Without a shoe

Or a sock

Thinkin' that it

Sure is fine

Strummin this ban-

-jo of mine.

Got all my stuff

In a tent

With the poles all

Old and bent

In a desert

Far from home.

Sure is good to

Be alone.

Guess it's just me

And the bats

And maybe the

Wild cats.

Ain't got the wits

To be scared.

I've got music

To be shared.

With the crickets

And the breeze

And the stars up

'Bove the trees

In a desert

Far from home.

Sure it good to

Be alone.

Kimberlee Long, July 21, 2020 I'm just glad the crickets and the breeze and the stars up 'bove the trees can't tell I'm actually terrible at playing the banjo.
