A Light Unto Her Path

She is unafraid of darkness

But keeps no company with shadows.

Nay, she let them part the way for her

As she walks the grounds left fallow.

She lets not the darkness clutch her heart

But lets her tread be a reminder

That she is no poor victim of fate

For the sun rises just behind her.

She boasts not a single challenge,

But the shadows know her still.

They creep away as she draws near

As, chased by light, all shadows will.

A touch of faith, a hint of trust

Is all she needs to keep on walking,

And before her, with every step,

The slinking shadows go on balking.

She may see not in weary moments

That which makes the shadows part,

But even in the darkest times

A living lamp shines in her heart.
