9 years ago,

I loved you brightly.

I love you still.

I love you rightly.

9 years ago,

We were still so young,

Both full of joy,

Climbing our first rung.

9 years ago

Is not so long past,

But much happens,

And years slip by fast.

9 years later,

Adoptions and births,

Illness and life,

Padding to our girth...

9 years later,

I know you much more

Than I did then.

And still, I am sure.

9 years later,

My heart's seen some gain.

It got bigger,

But you've filled it again.
